Inspired by the great legacy of 1950s rock and roll, country, and rockabilly music Bootleg Hooch plays timeless classics and original songs. Based in Rochester, NY, the band is quickly gaining recognition as authentic purveyors of classic music that rocked the world.
The four members of Bootleg Hooch stick to a simple instrumental format - guitar, bass, and drums - just like the early performers such as Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochrane, Buddy Holly and many others. We love the simple raw energy of early rock and roll and you will feel it when Jay Bird starts slapping that old dog house bass. Though we love the past, we present our own original music written to keep the flame of rockabilly alive.
Our personnel includes Reverend Kingfish on lead guitar and vocals. Rev has been a student of American roots music his entire life and has a special love for early rock. Jay Bird on bass is the king of slap. When he gets going just try to sit still -- you can't! Big Cat plays rhythm guitar and knocks out great tunes from Loretta Lynn to Patsy Cline. Casey on drums keeps thing on track and cookin'.
Bootleg Hooch is pure western -- western New York State, that is! Hailing from the Rochester area, we love the great live music vibe that make Rochester such a great town. But we don't mind loading up and heading out of town to spread the gospel of rockabilly. I hope to see you at a Bootleg Hooch show in the near future.
